SB Shooting - Today/Tomorrow Activity
Media Colleagues Covering the San Bernardino Shooting:
Many of you were at Lake Seccombe in San Bernardino this afternoon when evidence recovery
divers from the FBI and the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department arrived to conduct a
search of the lake. Based on news coverage and resulting concern about safety at a public park, an
impromptu briefing was held by FBI Assistant Director in Charge, David Bowdich; San Bernardino
Police Chief Jarrod Burguan; and San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon to explain the law
enforcement activity. While most of you were there or represented, many of you were not since I
regret we were unable to issue an advisory in advance of the briefing. I hope this didn't cause a great

deal of inconvenience. You will be advised of any future planned press events with as much advance
notice as possible. There are no press events planned at this time.
If any of you did not cover or watch the press conference, please call me and I can provide you with a
recap of the limited information Mr. Bowdich discussed.
As we advised last night, a Family Assistance Center is open at the Orange Show Events Center in
San Bernardino (689 South E Street). The Center will be open on Friday from noon to 8:00p.m. to provide
resources, information and support at the federal, state and local level for victims, their families, and those
directly affected by the shooting. On behalf of the victims of the shooting and others directly impacted, the
advocates staffing the Center have requested that the Family Assistance Center be mentioned in your
coverage, if possible, as there may be individuals affected by the shootings who need assistance and may
not be aware of the resources available to them. Additional information can be found below. Thank you.
Representatives are available from various agencies, including:.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation Office for Victim Assistance.
San Bernardino County Office of the District Attorney Bureau of Victim Services
