RE: VINCENT ALOI AND OTHERS ADDENDUM BY THE OFFICE OF LEGAL COUNSEL, 3/29/72, JLW:deh This memorandum recommends that the attached affidavit be approved for use in making application for a court order to monitor oral communications of the subjects which will take place in certain hotel rooms in the Miami, Florida, area. The affidavit was prepared to develop evidence of a conspiracy to violate the Extortionate Credit Transaction statute. The affidavit contains information from four confidential informants who have personal knowledge of the activities of the subjects herein. The informant information is to the effect that the subjects, some of whom are from New York, are planning to meet in the Miami, Florida. area in connection with their loan sharking operation. A review of this affidavit indicates it contains sufficient information to justify issuance of a court order to monitor the oral conversations of the subjects which will occur during their stay in the Miami area.. Recommend approval and that the attached letter be snt to the Acting Attorney General..
