Memorandum To Datc i/13/81 SAC, L0S ANGELES 9A-6947)(3)(C) From: SA 67C Cons Init Subject : UNSUB; FRANK SINATRA - VICTIM EXTORTION 00: Los Angeles On 1/6/8l, Feter Clinco, 960l wilshire Boulevard, Beverly Hills, California, telephone number 278-6060, was. law firn. of Rudin, Perlstein, and Chieffo at the same address. Clinco stated that Milton A. Rudin is the personal attorney to Frank Sinatra. Clinco stated that he was instructed by Rudin tc contact the FBI in Los Angeles and advise them that Frank Sinatra had received a threatenirg letter either at his. residence, 70-588 Frank Sinatra Drive, Rancho Mirage, California, or at h:s country club, Tamarisk Country Club, 70240 Frank Sinatra Drive, Rancho Mirage, California. Clinco could provide. no further information regarding the receiving of this letter specifically who received it, when it was received, or where it was received. Clinco stated that neither Sinatra nor Rudin would be availabie for interview in view of the fact that to be held in Washington, D.c. on January 20, l98l. Clinco advised that he did learn from Rudin that Sinatra had no idea who might have written the letter and could provide no information of lead value. Rudin advised that he had learned. the original threatening letter had been submitted to the Palm. Springs Police Department and that that agency is also conducting an investigation into this matter. a xerox copy of the envelope. It is noted that the letter is postmarked Palm Springs, California and dated December 9, l980. The envelope also indicates that it was received by Sinatra on 12/16/80. In view of the above, it is recommended that this case be closed administratively in that no further investigatioy appears to be warranted and in view of the fact that the Palm conducting an investigation.
