Hoffman, United States District Court Judge, Northern District of Illinois, 219 South Dearborn Street, Room 1764, Chicago, Illinois, tele- phone number 435-5634, was questioned concerning the appli- cant, Abner J. Mikva. Judge Hoffman advised he does not personally know the applicant, but does know Mr. Mikva to be active politically. Judge Hoffman stated that he has not heard anything negative regarding the applicant through his associates. Judge Hoffman advised that he did not believe Mr. Mikva has ever appeared in court before him. Judge Hoffman concluded by saying he did not feel it would be fair to make any comment regarding the appli- cant since he has not had any professional or social con- tact with the applicant.
