Mr. MICHEL went on to say that he is aware that
Mr. MIRKVA is being considered for appointment to the
position of Circuit Judge of the U. S. Court of Appeals
for the District of Columbia Judicial Circuit. In that
regard, although Mr. MICHEL and Mr. MIKVA are of differing
political philosophies, Mr. MICHEL would not hesitate to
endorse Mr. MIKVA for appointment to this responsible
position of trust. Mr. MICHEL recommends Mr. MIKVA,
without reservation, for appointment to the position of
Circuit Judge.
; Representative JOHN J. RHODES, Arizona, who is
the Minority Leader of the House, advised as follows:
Mx. RHODES has known Representative ABNER J.
MIKVA of Lllinois as a professional colleague since the
outset of the 91st Congress in January, 1969, and con-
siders him to be a thoroughly honest, decent and honorable
Man. Mr. RHODES noted that although he and Mr. MIKVA are
of differing political philosophies, he is of the belief
that Mr. MIKVA is well qualified in every respect for
appointment to the position,of Circuit Judge of the U. S.
Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Judicial
Circuit. Mr. RHODES recommends Mr. MIKVA for appointment
- to this responsible judicial position of trust.
Representative MELVIN PRICE, Illinois, who is
the Chairman of the Committee on the Armed Services,
advised as follows:
Mr. PRICE has known Representative ABNER J.
MIKVA of Illinois since the start of the 9lst Congress
in January, 1969, and holds him in very high esteem.
Mr. PRICE described Mr. MIKVA as being a very capable and
able legislator and a very fine attorney. Mr. MIKVA is
a gentleman who is well regarded by his associates in the
House. Mr. PRICE is aware that Mr. MIKVA is being con-
sidered for appointment to the position of Circuit Judge
of the U. S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia
