: CUNHIDENTIAL wo would be vivlence. The basis for this appenred to be the | result of the April 27th demonstrations and the reaetion of the Chicago police force to those demonstrations. There ‘ were alse groups of peuplic, I cannot say whether they were marshals or exactly what they were, but they were people who were extremely radical, if not militant, people advocating revolution and advocating that this demonstration should bo onc of the initiating parts of that revolution and that violence was a desirable outcome of this week in Chicago in that it would nid in the cause of the revolution which to my knowledge involved violence in the streets leading to collapse of the present government. Several of the leaders, including Abby Hoffman, indicated that violence was not undesirable. The two groups principally involved with the ~—"' ; demonstrations on Wednesday the 28th which were originally | intended to be peaceful and nonviolent were the Mobilization ig {| - for Pence and the Yippies. The parade or march as it began was nonviolent. The march emanating from the band shell in Grant Park on August 28th was throughout its entirety as et ae ele . roa : long as it lasted nonviolent.
