Attached to this memorandum is a copy of a
two pagc motion filed August 27, 1971, with the United
States Court of Appeals (USCA), Seventh Circuit, Chicago,

motion was furnished on August 30, 1971, by Assistant United
States Attorney James Breen, Northern District of Illinois,
and is self-explanatory in nature concerning the request
by Hoffman for USCA permission to travel to Jamaica during the
last week in September, 1971, and again for the period
November, 1971, through February, 1972.
In connection with this request, and the reason
therefor, it might he noted Hoffman was a convicted defendant
in the so-called Conspiracy Seven trial, Chicago, which
took place over the period September, 1969, through February,
1970, and involved those persons earlier indicted for violation
of the Federal Antiriot Statute, as a result of actions
surrounding the August, 1968, Democratic National Convention,
Chicago. In addition, at the conclusion of that trial, Hoffman
was cited for contempt of court by the presiding trial judge,
these contempt citations resulting from actions and statements
of Hoffman in court during its course An Fabruease 18 1970.

he was ordered incarcerated without bond in Cook County Jail,
Chicago, as a result of the above.
On February 28, 1970, he was ordered admitted to
bond by the USCA, however, was instructed to advise the United
States Marshal, Chicago, of all travel outside the State of
his residence, and to secure permission of the USCA for all
