ABBOTT HOWARD HOFFMAN was arrested on May 5, ‘Jon 4n the lobby of his residence at 114-116 East 13th Street, .New York, New York (NY), at 11:20 p.m.. At tne time of his ps arrest, HOFFMAN was accompanied by his wife, ANITA HOFFMAN. ’ HOFFMAN was imucdiately advised of the charges against him, violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2101, the Anti Riot Law Statute. Immediately following this, HOFFMAN was advised of Ris rights as they appear on the "Interrogation; Advice of Rights" form, HOFFMAN stated that he understood his rights but he would not sign the "Waiverd Rights" section of the "Interrogation ; Advice of Rights" form furnished him, deg tot dateet Joc ia aca, ae one tg . It was observed that HOFFMAN's nose wes covered with a white bandare about four inches in length. HOFFMAN stated that his nose was broken and had sixteen stitches in it. HOFFMAN stated that the injury to his nose was administered to him by a "sedistic cop" in Washington, D.C. He also stated that his nose had been treated in Washington, D.C. During the arrest of HOFFMAN, ANITA HOFFMAN appeared to be upset but shortly thereafter. appeared to be in a calm state. She mentioned to the egents not to hurt HOFFMAN since he had recently hed his nose broken, She was advised that no harm would come to him. r At 11:30 p.m., HOFFMAN was transported by automobile from the site of the arrest to the New York Office (NYO) of the Federal Bureau. of Investigation (FBI), 201 East 69th Street, NY, NY. HOFFMAN and the agents arrived, at the NYO at 11:50 p.m. Between 11:50 p.m., May 5, 1971 and 12:36 a.m., May 6, 1971, HOFFMAN wes stripped -searched, his property was inventoried and he was fingerprinted and photographed.
