FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION { ! | Det al transcription. __ 5/8/71 The following is a transcription of a tape recording of a speech made by ABBIE HOFFMAN at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahome, on April 29, 1971: An unidentified speaker made the following introduc- tory comments: “The followl tape recording is that of the address made by IE HOFFMAN at the University of Oklahoma on Thursday, the 29th of April, 1971. The first thirty seconds of his comments were not recorded, ey consisted primarily of a negation by HOFFMAN of the invitation to speak from the speaker's stand. He preferred to address the crowd standing in the orchestra pit.” HOFFMAN’ s comments are as follows: “We are finally going to be (illegible). ee There‘re already thousands of young peo le Washington. This Saturday and S y will be a 48-hour rock concert, thee are over thirty rock groups, ARLO GUTHRIE, PETER, PAUL and MARY, MOTHER EARTH, ARETHA FRANKLIN and leads of people. JAMES BROWN just announced two days ago thet he was going to go there and play and there should be somewhere upwards of 100,000 people supporting and celebrating the People's Peace Treaty that's been s d people throughout this country and throughout Vietnam, and indeed in fact hout world, because people throughout the world see the war in Vietnam and U. S. imperialism as a world problem.
