At various times during the demonstration on August 26, we had to refuse entry by the public to our Van Buren Street Station due to the fact many of the demonstrators were trying to use this station as a shelter to evade authorities. During these periods we are sure that some of our regular passengers were prohibited from use of our facilities. On Thursday, August 29, at approximately 5:30 p.m. we received a call from our Weldon Yard Tower Operator indicating several demonstrators on the Air Line at 16th Street and Clark had stopped a SOO Line engine proceeding west. Representatives were dispatched and with the aid of National Guard and City Police, we evicted the trespassers. However, at this time, I am unable to determine the exact delay to this engine. Pe From this date through August 30, we took necessary precautions to protect our property, passengers and employees from any injury or damage as a result of these demonstrations.
