fer a tee wr ee ee tele aS ie LL Ke A ee Oe Da oe ak ote REs YOUTH INTERNATIONAL PARTY Members of YIP held a free-share picnic at Lummis Park on July 2, 1972, primarily to get the senior itizgens to come ever to the YIP way of thinking, About a otal of 600 people were there, 300 of which would normally e at the park on a Sunday afternoon and probably about 300 turned out to see what was going on. There was no violence, although there was a little problem about same of the older Me Vtswwygss wesw TS Se ewuaws a a senior citizens trying to grab up too much food and jamming it into sacks. There were probably about 18 to 20 members. of YIP there and most of the collective and a spokéamau, —-— ~- JEPP KNIGHTBYRD, indicated to the senior citizens that the ee SN ee SS ee Fg oe SS SS picnic was aimed at dispelling “scare" rumors and debunking of talk of crime in the streets. Also, KNIGHTBYRD had indicated that the YIP group would even go further than supporting a non-violence pact proposed by RENNIE DAVIS and the Coalition for Peace and Justice. KNIGHTBYRD indicated that the YIPs thought there had been too much stress on violence and that a peacefulness pact is better than a * g 7g oa non-violence pact. «"~-"* — ad
