"The Boston Globe," a Boston, Massachusetts daily
newspaper, in its July 31, 1971 issue contained an article
entitled, "Sticky-fingered Abbie Hoffman strikes back at
booksellers," which stated in part as follows concerning the
subject's appearance on the "Paul Benzaquin Show" on
July 30, 1971.
"tT™e reviews are better than the book,' he told
Ken Thomas, who interviewed him for the vacationing Paul
Benzaquin, ‘One reviewer said I should stick to writing on
my forehead.’ {
"Hoffman began the interview by talking about the
book, but by the time it was over, the book and its problems
were long forgotten,
"Thomas: "You'_e a new father...'
"Hoffman: ‘Yes. Actually, I have three kids. When
I was being tried in Chicago it was a big decision as to whether
I showld let my kids visit me, The jury had my age pegged at
about 83.'
"Thomas: ‘The new baby's name is ...'
"Hoffman: '.e.' ‘a, merica.' "You don't think it
sounds too Jewish, do you?’
"Tomas: 'Iees!
"Hoffman: 'I have a big trial coming up in the fall.
I face 10 years. I thought if I gave my kid that name they
wouldn't send me to jail.'
"Thomas: ‘'Well...'
