On February 26, 1970, AUSA MICHAEL NASH made available a copy of a@ Judgment and Commitment and a Certificate of Contempt pertaining to United States of America v. ABBOTT H, HOFFMAN. The Judgment and Commitment reflects that on February 14, 1970, the subject was found guilty of 23 individual and separate criminal contempts by Judge JULIUS JI, HOFFMAN as specified in the Certificate of Contempt in that the subject during his trial which began on September 24, 1969, participated in continual disruptive outbursts in direct defiance of judicial authority and was committed to the custody of the Attorney General of the United States or his authorized representative for &@ period of eight months. The “Sunday News", a New York City weekly newspaper in its February 15, 1970 issue on Page 3,contained an article entitled "Sentence 4 of Chi 7 for Contempt; Court Explodes After Case Goes to Jury”. This article which is datelined "Chicago, February 14 (Combined Services)" states in part as follows: "The 100-day trial of the Chicdgo Seven went to the jury today and the judge immediately sentenced four defendants to lengthy terms for contempt. -ll-
