From an initial i¢czological posture of "participatory democracy," the current line of the national leadership reveals an ecdherense to Marxism-Leninism. Micnaelr™ Klousky, National Secretary, in wareh, 1959, called for the buildinz of a revolutionary Marxist-Leninist movement. The program of STS has moved rvom involvement in civil rights struggles to an anvi-Viec:an war position and finally to its present advocacy of an :1ivi-inperialist line, linking up the oppressed peoples of 121ia, Afpica and Latin America with the black liberation moverent in the United States. China, Vietnam and Cuba are regarced as countries which are leading the world- wide strugstes asainsy unived Staves imperialism. On the otner hand, SDS regards tne Soviet Union as an imperialist power and does not support the policies of that country. SDS maintains a iational Office in Room 206, 1603 West Madison Streev, Cnicaso, Lllinois. Its official paper "New Left Notes" reflects. tne line of the national leadership and program adoptea at meetings of the National Council and Nationas Inverim Connittee (NIC). Three national officers and a NIC of eleven members are elecvuea each year during a June National Convention.
