Approxinately 700 to 1000 people began to march down Michigan Avenue in an orderly manner. When the marchers reached 18th Street, they were confronted with soldiers with fixed bayonets. At this point, ABBIE HOFFMAN of the Yippies addressed the soldiers and yelled “Take me to your leader”. A policeman appeared and told HOFFMAN that no one would be allowed beyond that point and that they should dispurse and leave the area.
