° Ever since the Russtana released "Sputnik" there een —
has been a great tncrease tn the number of "flytng saucers" .
and other untdentifted flytng objecte (oP, reportedly seen by
people all over the U. &. On October 2957, the 4tr Force 7G
was flooded with calle and the newspapers were “full of reports
-' ° that an unknown object described as “looked ltke the moon" and
‘ trailing a “blue flame that pulsed like a heart" had landed tn
the uicinity of Vernal, Utah. fhe Atr Force tmneditately .
investigated these reports with negative results, tnasauch as
no object was located nor was there any evidence of an object }
hating fallen tn Utah.
° Within the past two weeks reports tn these cases have
; tncreased tremendously and some of the more sertous have been
-+ + desertbed as follows: An object had landed tn Webraska with siz
people aboard, the persons had talked to a Nebraska farner and
then sped off tnto apace; a firey object was seen flashing across
eX the southern skies from Albany, Georgta, to Miami, Florida; ao Coast
. + Guard cutter had stghted a huge object fiying over the Gulf o
. .dfextco, and persons tn the Southwestern states whtle driving their
: care have allegedly seen UFO's that caused the engines tn their .
automobiles to stop. In view of the number of these reports, the
Bureau's Liaison Representative discussed these various sighttngs
{ with offictale of Atr Force Intel ltgence and was adutsed that all
the cases mentioned above have for all practical purposes been
resolved as being nonauthentic er there was no basis for tie
sightings. Investigating detatls that the aAtr Force had out tn the
field investigating these matters have not submitted thetr complete
reports but have advised that they are all more'or less negative.
