The Department has been requested to advise ) whether or not further investigation is desired. ‘ Marshall, Speciai Counsel for the National Association For the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) originally complained to Department that individuals who had instituted suit in Federal Court against the Dallas, Texas, School Board had been intimidated by Texas Rangers and representatives of the Attorney General of the State of Texas. It was alleged that such intimidation was caused because such | individuals had Roce action in Federal Court.) | { Investigation disclosed that 4 of the 24 plaintiffs in the : civil act and“the husband of a Sth op gingie had been called befor Z a court os wane if an B Dallas exas, 29=56. Five additicnal plaintiffs erviewed by rep representatives of the Texas Attorney General's o t did not appear before court of inquiry. Of the other plaints ts igterviewed, none had been questioned by any state officials mit ager action in Federal Court.
