was served on Ellison, and other CSA members were removed
from the area. At this point, search teams were to enter
the three compounds and conduct appropriate searches. Approximately
eight search teams had been organized with seven or eight
members each, comprised of equal numbers of ATF and FBI agents.
The ATF case agent was to act as search team coordinator.
In subsequent discussions with ATF personnel, it was
learned that they had been directed to take custody of all
automatic weapons, silencers and commercial explosives, while

also learned that no provision had been made to process the
crime scene for latent fingerprint evidence, although the
FBI Latent Fingerprint Section had preyi been notified

Examiners be sent to the scene.
By 4/18/85, the CSA property had been effectively sealed
off and FBI hostage negotiatiors and HRT personnel were attempting
to talk James Ellison into surrendering and leaving the Main
Compound area. During this time, SWAT teams secured the
Valley and Plateau Compounds, discovering that they had been
abandoned.
On 4/20/85,
teams began a search of the Valley Compound.
