In-October, 1941, this office came into possession of a ‘letter to urs,
JANET T. Ce“REBACK, dated October 17, 1941, on the letterhead of SCHOELLKOPF, HUTTON.
& POMEROY, Investment Securities, 70 Niagara Street, Buffalo, New York. This letter.
was a statement of sales of "blocked" German Reichsmarks against payment of U. 5.2
funds. This letter was evidently a statement made by the brokers to Mrs. CALDWELL
at-her request.
In February, 1941, Mrs. REBACK advised the Buffalo Office that she had _
heard a rumoy which was supposedly current in New York City, to the effect that she
had received 60,000 Marks from the German Government. At this time she admitted « °
receiving 60, ocd Marks and 125,000 Marks from the German Government as royalties :
for a book she wrote which was published and sold in Germany. - -
In June, 1941, Mrs. REBACK in the role of a complainant stated that she.
was the recipient of a postcard from the CHRISTIAN MOTHERS! CLUB OF AMERICA, branding’
her a "depraved" person because of her views on the European situation. At this ..
