Memorandum for Mr. Adams
RE: SURREPTITIOUS ENTRIES
AAG Pottinger and Departmental Attorney Frank Allen
subsequently advised on 8/19/75 that in connection with microphone
installations they recognize that the Bureau's policy at one time was to
conduct a feasibility survey prior to securing authority to make the
installation and that this policy has been changed so that any feasibility
surveys conducted are made following receipt of the Attorney General's
authorization. They requested a separate listing be compiled with
respect to surreptitious entries in connection with microphone installations.
ACTION:
Intelligence Division, Special Investigative Division and
General Investigative Division take necessary steps to obtain the requested
information and Intelligence Division coordinate response to AAG Pottinger
by 8/22/75.
