(Page 2) (Cohumns 4 & 5) THEAQUPREME COURT AND run fersaenson TRIBUNAL The "GERMAN AMERICAN" has already dealt tshh—=sws in its previous issue with the question of the appeal of the Japenese war criminals to the American Supreme Court. Meanwhile this court has decided with 4 vote of 5 to 4 to heer these appeals and then decide whether this court wes competent in these cases or not. This wes & decision of great importance even if the finel deci regerding the competence has not yet been handed down. The Presicent of the Supreme Sourt , Justice ROBERT wKcxson, who, by means of his vote in the effirm-tive , finally removed the prevailing equelity of votes, stressed in his statement that foreign countries would lose all confidence in the ability of the President of the United States to C negotiate internationally if the Supreme ourt were to declare itself competent in such cases.
