Because of his activities in connection with these two issues, he has been a controversial figure. According to FBI files, Allen has also been affiliated with and contributed to the “Los Angeles Sobell Committee" which is an affiliate of the National Committee to Secure Justice for Morton Sobell in the Rosenberg Case which has been cited by the House Committee oa Un-American Activities. In June, 1965, Allen was listed as a sponsor of a tribute to Congressional liberals who were being honored at a dinner in Beverly Hills, California, on August 13, 1965, for their opposition to the present Administration's policy on Vietnam.
