LEVISON remarked that MARTIN LUTHER KING whether he felt BOBBY KENNEDY was involved or not, maintained a friendly relationship with him. He said KING. even if he felt BOBBY KENNEDY was involved, forgave him and that CORETTA KING should take the same attitude, LEVISON gave his opinion that the entire affair will "drift away", and said "It's not the kind of thing you can keep going’. He felt the entire thing would be forgotten. LEVISON also commented that CORETTA KING'S suggestion | that she get together with ETHEL KENNEDY could be fruitful and should be done reasonably soon. This information was furnished to the Bureau by teletype dated 6/20/69, captioned "MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR} SECURITY MATTER-C", An air mail copy was furnished Aflanta. 6/21/69 On 6/21/69, HARRY WACHTEL, NYC Attorney and an advisor to the SCIC, discussed with LEVISON the newspaper publicity in the NYC area about the wire tapping of MARTIN LUTHER $ telephones. WACHTEL said that guests at a party he attended were trying to guess the identity of the Communist, Marxiste Leninist lawyer whose phones had been tapped. WACHTEL could only answer that it was not he. LEVISON and WACHTEL discussed an article on the wire tapping of KING written by JAMES WECHSLER of the “New York Post" newspaper, LEVISON claimed that WECHSLER was érunk when he wrote the article.
