Stanley Levison Bayard Rustin In “The Saturday Evening Post", issue of July 11-18, 1964, page 76, Bayard Rustin is the subject of a feature article captioned: "The Lone Wolf of Civil Righte®. In it, Rustin is said to have come to Rew York in 1938, as an organizer for the Young Communist League (YCL), and as such, he had the job of recruiting students for the "Party". Furthermore, the article reports that during his first years in New York, Rustin gave most of his earnings to the "Party". He reportedly left the "Party" in 1941, the article states. The “Daily Worker", February 11, 1957, page l, eolumn 2, reported that Bayard Rustin, Executive Secretary, War Resisters League, was an observer at the 16th Nationgl Convention of the CP USA held in New York City, on February 9-11, 1957.
