King sald that while he is in Washington, D.C,, for the Supreme Court case, he will be staying at the Willard Hotel. King stated that it will be all right if his picture is taken on the steps of the Supreme Court Building, and he said that he hopes that the case gets good coverage from the press. Jones indicated that he was certain the press would afford good coverage inesmuch as William Rogers, the former Attorney General, who will argue the case, represents "Newsweek" and the "Washington Post.” deen cba eer On rae mu Jones said that he had a long talk with "our friend" last night, and he mentioned that “our friend" thinks tne material for"The Nation "should not be used until after the Congress convenes. Jones also mentioned that “our friend" thinks that most of the prints should be in draft form by the time King gets to New York, King indicated that Ralph (Abernathy) and Wratt (Walker) will be at the New York meeting. and he said tnat fund raising will be discussed with Billy Rowe. Accordin to King, the meeting will start at 10:00 a.m. on January 5, 1964. King mentioned that he would satay et the New York Hilton Hotel and that he would come directly from Wasnington, D.C., to New York. King stated he will bring with him a financial report of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), and he indicated that this may help to straighten out the mess in the New York Chapter. King mentioned that he had received congratulatv..ra from Roy (Wilkins) and Whitney (Young) regarding the "Man c.' the Year Award" by "Time" magazine, but he stated that he had not heard from Jim Farmer.
