SPACE SHUTTLE CHALLENGER, a a INFORMATION CONCERNING LAUNCH EXPLOSION, ~" ; KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLORIDA 3 JANUARY 28, 1986 The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has conducted numerous investigations regarding information received, subsequent to the shuttle Challenger explosion, concerning possible sabotage of the space craft. These investigations are synopsized as follows: On January 27, 1986, an anonymous caller made a telephone call to Channel 7 News, a CBS-TV affiliate, Boston, Massachusetts, and stated "some horrible, horrible things were going to happen tomorrow, at least five people are going to be killed." The caller indicated he was one of a group of three that was going to sabotage NASA. The caller further indicated that if the shuttle did blow up he would recontact the news station. On January 28, 1986, at approximately 3:25 p.m. the anonymous caller made a telephone call to Channel 7 News and advised that he intended to make a telephone call to the Governor at 5:00 p.m. During a briefing of Agents in the Boston Office of the FBI, it was recalled that in September, 1985, a "walk in™ Complainant, of questionable mental capacity, had indicated he had been responsible for the delay of previous shuttle flights, plane crashes, and other catastrophic events. It was determined that the complainant's name was The anonymous caller made a telephone call to residence at 5:00 p.m., as_ previously indicated, and gave the name (s) of a restaurant where Eni «:: to meet him.
