Miscellaneous
In July, 1957, SIDNEY KORSHAK was mentioned in the
"Readers Digest" article by. LESTER VELIE entitled, “How
Influence--Peddlers Short Change the Union Wage Earner."
VELIE was featuring the Teamsters Union then-presigent DAVE
BECK's "sweetheart deals" with businessmen, and how such
deals were irranged by middlewen such as NATHAN W, SHEFFERMAN.
He called SHEFFERMAN "one «f e new breed of shadowing operators
. who use their inf:uerte among union men to bring employers and
union men together to ma! > a deal," and he called it a union
problem which is "most loaded with woe for the worker" in that
the union's function is perverted.
An example of such questionable relations was named
by VELIE as involving the Entlander Company, Incorporated,
matress manufacturers in Indiana, and in connection with this
the name of SIDNEY KORSHAK was introduced into VELIE's story.
He wrote "CAPONE gangster CHARLEY ‘CHERRY NOSE! GIOE once
