Tehophone ROA NCIC/CCH BRIEFING Disoetor Spe'y OCTOBER 25, 1973 }: S7Hgh fim ; Re memorandum of 10/10/73 from Mr. Campbell to Mr. Callahan concerning the briefing of certain Members of Congress and their 4 staff members on NCIC/CCH operations on 10/25/73. As you are aware, responses to the invitations extended are Ne being received and a number of Congressmen and Senators are designating | their aides to be present for the briefing. Today, 10/19/73, Ni SA gressional Services Office, received a call from a legislative aide to Senator Edward M-~kKennedy (D-Mass.) © Do2 who works for Senator Kennedy on the Subcommittee on Administrative v ‘Practice and Procedure, Committee on the Judiciary, which is chaired by Senator Kennedy. stated he had learned of the NCIC/CCH \. briefing on 10/25/73 from other congressional aides and wondered ‘ if it would be possible for an invitation to be extended to him as YX a representative of the Subcommittee chaired by Senator Kennedy. sa Jadvised that _he felt certain that this could be arranged, \ and he explained to that in respect to the Judiciary Committee, members ommittee on FBI Oversight had been invited along with Senators Tunney and Mathias who have expressed L Noh particular interest in the NCIC/CCH program. It was pointed out R ae four other Senators on the Judiciary Committee in addition to oct 34 Senator Kennedy had not been extended invitations inasmuch as an of invitations were also sent “to other Senators and House Memberg. because of their committee assignments and/or interest in NCIC/CCH. was informed that the FBI would, of course, be most please to have him present at the briefing on 10/25/73.
