Dear Earl: a
Attached is some material which I received in the mail
last week from an obvious screwball. I think you may have a
file and already know about this guy. However, he is so up-
tight about Senator Ted Kennedy that I am sending the material
on to you with the outside chances in mind that you do not have
a line on the guy and, secondly, that in the event Senator
Kennedy is out this way this guy might be one you should know
about and have an eye on. Incidentally, I have opted not to
reply to his letter, hoping there will be no more correspondence
and that he will stay in Portland and not elect to call upon me
personally here in Olympia. In this connection it is probably
just as well, as you know, that he should not know that "I have
told.the F.B.1I. on him."
: Incidentally, Baldy Furseth called me this morning about
being nominated for membership on a national board as to which
the two of you are members. I am pleased and honored that the
two of you thought of me in this connection, and if selected for
membership, it will be a pleasure to be associated with and to
work with you on this national board.
