Men STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE y woe FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION In Reply, Please Refer to ° Chicago, Illinois File No. CG 62-6324 September 18, 1968 UNKNOWN SUBJECT; THREATS AGAINST SENATOR EDWARD KENNEDY PROTECTION OF THE PRESIDENT On September 1, 1968, [| Chicago, Illinois, advised that his wife and himself —“had-heard~on-Chantiel”- 7 Television, Chicago Station WBKB-TV, at about 11:10 p.m., September 1, 1968, what they believed bo to be a short-wave message to the effect that the assassi- bic nation of Edward Kennedy was planned. This message was described as o e exact text was not known. Melrose Park, Illinois, also advis a é ha ard what he believed to Bbé"a Short-wave transmission on this same television TAL F ese rates F Station with words "assassination" and "another Hitler" being spoken. CREO, El, On September a ae Waster, HESS Controt1es{ | Television Station WBKB, fa advised that he had ju completed a monitor of their television program entitled "Three Danger- ous People,* which had been made available for vie Chicago at 11:00 p.m. on September 1, 1968. Mr. advised that at 11:18 and 35 seconds’ p.m. in that show techni-~ cal difficulties at the television station had produced b6 brief static and an audio override of some of the sound bIC from a tape recording which was being prepared for the show entitled | 's Guerrillas” for showing on September 3, 1968. Co explained that because of this difficulty the words "assassination of Hitler" were heard on the audio portion of "Three Dangerous People."
