shortly after his arrival advised that Kornitzer, in conyersation with
im, had stated that he was not in sympathy with communism but praised
the conduct of Russian soldiers in Hungary. Kornitzer further
[appeared | stated that when he came to the United States articles

appeared in two procommunist papers praising him, but he had requested —
them to stop as he did not want to appear as a communist or propagandist.
Since his arrival, Kornitzer has been in contact with many of the
leading political personalities in the United States, including former
Presidents Truman and Eisenhower, and has written various books,
including "American Fathers and Sons" (1952), "The Great American
Heritage, The Story of the Fiye Eisenhower Brothers" (1955): and “The
Real Nixon," a biography (1960). He has claimed to be a personal
Niaend of both former President Eisenhower and former Vice President
ixon.
_In connection with his writings, he has on numerous occasions
attempted to meet the Director and to obtain material for his books.
In 1947 he claimed to haye met the Director; however, the Director .
commented, "I neyér met him." He has been most persistent in the past.
and on one occasion in 1951 intimated to Inspector Wick that he might
contact former President Truman or former Attorney General McGrath in
thé, hopes they might convince the Director to see him. He continues
to send the Director copies ofall his works and as recent as. Septeniber,
1960, an- acknowledgment was written concerning the receipt of an _
article, In 1947 former Assistant Director McGuire described_Korfiitzer
as a smooth-talking, fast-operating, tricky individual awho: would, use a
contact with the Director to his advantage in meeting” Others. /He has
been interviewed in various investigations, conducted by the Bureau and
