Police Department concerning this incident.

magistrate on June 10 , and as a result of the Drunk
charges, was fined $25, 00 or twenty-five days, He was then
remanded to the Tampa Police Department stockade and as of
the evening of June 10, 1968, was still in custody. At the

Department, advised g ecial Agents of the FBI that on June 9,
1968, he and Officer had responded to a radio call to’
investigate a man making a phone call from a phone booth 1lo-
cated at the corner of Polk and Florida, Tampa, Florida. 9n-
arriving there, they found a white male standing by the tele~
phone, holding the receiver, The man appeared to be in a stupor
and it was their opinion that he was quite intoxicated, The
investigating officers asked this individual what he was doing
and he informed them he was attempting to call someone in
Massachusetts, It was observed by the officers that approxi~
mately 35¢ in coins lay on the phone. booth platform, They
