APPROPRIATIONS—FOREST SERVICE
Commutce on Appropriations: Further testimony in
justification of 1951 budget estimates for the Forest
Service was received by the Subcommittee on Agricul-
ture Appropriations from Lyle F. Watts, Chief, and As-
sistant Chiefs Earl W. Loveridge and C. M. Granger,
together with thcir respective assistants, all of the Forest
Service, in connection with the subcommittce's hearings
on its portion of the omnibus appropnation bill. Heare
ings continue Thursday.
APPROPRIATIONS—DEPARTMENT OF STATE
Commitice on Appropriations: Testimony in justifica-
tion of 1951 budget estimates for the Department of
State was received froin various officials of the Srate De-
partment before the Subcommittee on State, Justice, and
Commerce Appropriations in connection with study of
its portion of the omnibus appropriation bill. John E.
Peurifoy, Deputy Under Secretary of State for Admin-
istration, appeared on funds for the Department gen-
erally : Frederick Larkin, Division of Forcign Buildings
Operations, testified on funds for American buildings
in foreign countries; William Hall and Edward Wilber,
both of the State Department, discussed appropriauicas
for Foreign Service retirement and disability fund; and
Joh. D. Hickerson, Assistant Secretary of State for
United Nations Affairs, talked on contributions to inter-
national organizations. Hearings continue tomorrow.
On Saturday, February 18, the subcommittee con-
cluded hearings on appropriations for the Judiciary.

Committce on Appropriations: Subcommittee on Army
Civil Functions Appropriations received further testi-
