The United Press news tickler yesterday carried a statement that Senator “~ Tydings had revealed he had requested the Justice Departzent ami the FBI to in- } vestigate Senator MbCarthy's allegations of State Departmnt file tampering and that the results of 4 file-by-file examination were made available to Tydings by = N SO the Justice Department and shored that the files were intact, had not been r raped AN SN 1 =z s% and had not been skoletonized or tampered with. The press release reports . In this memorandum Peyton Ford ad- P us that the Attorney General wished to prepare at the earliest possible nt a letter to Senator Tydings listing, first, those individuals in the group om whom loyalty investigations were comducted and attaching copies of the Bureau's transmittal letters or memoremia to the Civil Service Commission.
