STATus: As you probably will recall, when the information concerning the individuals mentioned by lcCarthy recently was praviously brought out before the House Aprropriations Conittee in January, 1948, the State Departrent imicated to the Houss Appropriations Committee that 19 of the cases on vhom the Departnent had. These 19 cases, disloyal information had been referred to the FBI for investigation. as you will recall, were handled as a srecial project and thorough investigations wre made of the 19. Since that tire no request has been made by the State Department for invsstigation of any or the four above-mentionod individuals under the Loyalty Program.
