The following references in the file captioned "Poor People's
Campaign" (PPC) contain information concerning the activities of Sammy
Davis, Jr., in connection with the Campaign. The references disclosed .
that the SCLC was endeavoring to secure the services of Davis and other
popular entertainers for a PPC program planned for 5/9/68 in Atlanta, Ga.
Davis reportedly appeared at Resurrection City, the Campaign site near
the Lincoln Memorial, Washington, D.C., on approximately 5/21/68 and
. presented a check for the amount of $17,800 to the Rev. Ralph Abernathy
for the PPC, The check represented the proceeds of a benefit performance
of "Golden Boy" given by Davis in Chicago, Ill.
