It is believed possible that the abbreviation
M.L.3. refers to Monterey Languaze Sehoeol which is a
“general term used frequently to refer ta the Defense
Language Institute - West Coast Branch (DLI), which was
formerly known as the U. §. Army Lanzuage School at
Nonterey, California. This installation is located
approximately 20 miles from the Hyatt House Hotel in
Salinas, California. It is known that the Communist
blec intelligence agencies have in the past expressed an
interest in the activities at the school.

took over operation of the hotel, formerly known as the
Wonder Lodge, in June, 1563 and the date referred to in

single units or as a two room suite. These particular
reoms, however, are located in a section of the hotel
Which is infrequently rented es it is near the highway
and located in the building most distant from the hotel
office. (U)
The hotel rooms are decorated with heavy hollow
plaster plaqyes which were being repainted during March,
1964, When removed one of the plaques in
Room Lid to be repainted, the above described note was
found. {uy}
