‘In February, 1942, Lynd was the subject
of an OEM applicant case based on his‘ application”
for employment as a consultant. At that time Dies
Committee records showed that he had been a sponsor
and signer for a number of left-wing organizations,
three of which have since been cited by the Attorney
General as Communist. None of, the persons interviewe
during this investigation believed Lynd to be dis-
loyal. Several-of his former associates stated he
was inclined to be extremely liberal in his political
views, but certainly not a Communist. ae
