LeliAY CETLLUEN has set up 4 one-man grand jury to investigate rackets in Detroit and said that he wanted to subpoena GOLDBERG to question him about recent hi-jeckings of sugar, GEORGE KRISH, Chief Assistant Frosecuting Attorney, said that he had been informed that GOLDBERG had been shot 4 week previous when an attempt was made to kidnap him on Hazelwood Avenue and that GOLDBERG is missing at the present time, An article dated July 27, 1933, stated that Inspector WILLIAM J. COLLINS of the Detroit Folice Department was quoted as saying CCLDBERS was the victim of an attempted holdup on July 15, 1933, when he left his apartment house at 1920 Collingwood ctreet. COLLINS stated that GOLDBERG was struck on the head during the altercation that followed enc at the present time he is recuperating at Bear Lake near Kanistee, Wichican, but, according to his wife, would come to Uetroit if he is wanted, A follow-up article dated July 3lst stated that GOLDBERG was served with a subpoena by FRIGE and mentioned that GOLDB:RG is now a partner in the Alaska herring Comneny. & news article dated duly 30, 1940, stated that the United States Attorney General's Office is mahing an investigation of state . 70
