IV. MISCELLANEOUS ACTIVITIES ABROAD
On August 21, 1959, the United States Department
of State, American Legation, Budapest, Hungary, advised that
the Hungarian newspaper "Esti Hirlap" on August 21, 1959,
carried an interview with PAUL ROBESON, in which ROBESON
stated that "by March I will visit China".
On September 1, 1959, the United States Department
of State, American Legation, Budapest, Hungary, furnished
a translation of an article which appeared in the August
22, 1959, issue of the Hungarian newspaper "Nepszabadsag",
which related tothe visit of the subject to Budapest,
Hungary, on August 20, 1959. ‘This article was captioned,
"tthose Are in Majority Who Want Peace' - An Interview with
Paul Robeson Passing Through Budapest", and it read as follows: .
"Payl Robeson, the world-famous singer who has been
decorated with the International Lenin Peace Medal, spent a
few hours in Budapest on Thursday on his way to the Rumanian
