in August, 1959, that an Associated Press dispatch from
Vienna, Austria, under the date August 4, 1959, reported
that the subject had addressed a meeting for youths from Asia
and Africa at the Seventh World Youth Festival. This dispatch
reported that ROBESON spoke on "Restriction of Negro Rights _....
in the United States" and that several American youths in
the audience reported that they had been denied an opportunity
to question ROBESON regarding his statements as they were

NY T-14, a confidential source abroad, advised on
August 13, 1959, that the August 11, 1959 issue of "L'Humanite"”,
a French CP newspaper, contained an article which indicated
that PAUL ROBESON was scheduled to appear at the festival
of "L'Humanite" at Meudon, France, in the near future.
This article also indicated that FAUL ROBESON, who is one
of the greatest living singers, had not visited France in
