Miscellaneous On November 7, 1959, com acea made 4nformation _ — lb gy available which reflected that at date WILLIAM WEINSTONE addressing a meeting of the New York State CP Committee, which was being held in Room 11-B, Adelphi Hall, 74 Fifth _ Avenue, New York City, made the following comments: WILLIAM WEINSTONE stated he had just returned from a trip to the Soviet Union and added that PAUL ROBESON was a great cultural and political ambassador from the United States to the world. WEINSTONE had occasion to exchange greetings with ROBESON over the telephone during his, WEINSTONE's, recent European trip. While speaking to ROBESON over the telephone, ROBESON informed WEINSTONE that he was going to visit the Czechoslovak Army. WEINSTONE further advised that PAUL ROBESON was stirring Europe, and English comrades spoke with such love and affection of the role that he played in the big peace march where he spoke and sang in Trafalgar Square. English comrades told WEINSTONE of the British Broadcasting Company broadcast of the leading artists and cultural figures of England in a testimonial to PAUL ROBESON. WEINSTONE stated that ROBESON was an immense figure in Czechoslovakia and he brings the best of America to the peoples of Europe and in him they see the greatness of our country. WEINSTONE further stated that ROBESON is regarded not only as an anti-fascist, but as a militant fighter for Socialism. WEINSTONE added that from the standpoint of culture, what is important is the way people say not "give us an American song" but "give us a Paul Robeson song". WEINSTONE
