(L'Humanite © Dimanche), As he came into the room, PAUL
ROBESON was greeted by his brother who was waiting for him
and by all those who everyday get up “L'iiuma" and who, last
night, expressed by their applause the admiration and the
respect which they all feel for hin.
ETIENNE FAJON began: "Dear PAUL ROBESON, I remem~
ber that, Last year, when the time came to part after your
unforgettable Meudon recital, I had thought I could say:
"Until we meet again’. I say (now): we are happy to have
you among us,"
“If PAUL ROBESON had not come, our Festival would
have lost a part of its beauty. I welcome him in this house
where the collaborators claimed the privilege of being the
first to applaud him, as they know well that, with hime art |
cannot be dissociated from the struggle."
