The "New York Times" newspaper issue of June 13,
1956, page one, contained an article entitled "House Group
Favors Citing Paul Robeson." In part, this article read:
"contempt of congress proceedings were begun
against Paul Robeson today as the upshot of a
shouting, table- -~thumping and gavel-banging
hearing at the Capitol......Mr. Robeson brought
a stormy morning session to a sudden close by
raising his resonant bass voice to shouting
pitch and asserting, 'You are the non-patriots
and you are the un-Americans and you ought to
be ashamed of yourselves.' Before the final
blow-up, Mr. Robeson angrily denounced the
committee, Senator Eastland and others in
response to questions about his activities and
his travels to Soviet Russia.”
The New York "Daily Mirror" issue of June 14,
1956, contained an article entitled "House Group Cites
Robeson." This article related the citing of PAUL ROBESON
by the House Committee on Un-American Activities for
contempt of congress and, in part, read:
“Though the singer invoked the Fifth Amendment
when queried about Red affiliations, he shouted
his contempt for the committee time and again."

People's Artists, Inc.
The “Guide to Subversive Organizations and
Publications," previously mentioned, reflects
the following concerning People's Artists, Ine.:
"1, Cited as a Comminist front.
"(California Committee on Un-Americari Activities,
Report, 1948, p. 392.)"
