United States Attorney Northern District of Oklahoma Tulsa, Oklahoma, September 10, 1928. The Honorable, Tne Attorney General, * Washington, Bb. CG. Attention Mr. 0. EB. Iuhring, Assistant Attorney General Sir: I enclose you herewith copy of letter this day written the Agent in Charge, Bureau of Inves~ tigation at Oklahoma City, with reference to the presence and attendance of agent Frank Smith, at the trial of the case of United States va. W. K. Hale, at Pawhuska, Oklahoma, which letter is self-explanatory. As stated in that letter, it was deemed advisable at the conference held here that Mr. Smith be transferred here as soon as possible to assist in the preparation of this case for trial. I also enclose you oopy of letter this day written to Honorable f, B. White, Warden of the United States Penitentiary at Leavenworth, Kansas, which is self-explanatory also, and which request was deemed advisable at the sane conference. It developed during this conference that there would no doubt be some very material new evidence, and that the services of Mr. Frank Smith would be very valuable in obtaining the sane, This letter is written you and copies encloss#d - for the purpose of advising you and asking your assistance, if necessary, in having these men present on the dates requested in said copies of letters enclosed, Respectfully, United States .
