Hattie Paul testified at previous trial for defense but did not mention writin; 1 such letterse;. { See transcript of evidence given by her} Wd Egan, Federal Penitentiary, Leavenworth, Kansas, former attorney st fulsa, Oklahoma, stated that he had seen two prisoners there talking to Bill Hale a short time before Hale was transferred from Federal prison and he (Egan) a few minute later talked to these prisoners, names unimown, and they had told him that Hale was i going to beat hie case this time by fixing Earnest Burkhart through his (Burkhart 's] attorney, ty having Burkhart to forget some of the things he had said at previous trial, etc, In fact, they had Burkhart fixed and Hale would beat case this way, Evan requested this information be treated confidential, 3 Brecs BOTR, Earnest Burkhart told this agent that Henry Cornett and Kelsi Morrison, now confined in Oklahoma State prison, had suggested this above mentioned procedure to him and that they could and would arrange through defense counsel all f of which he (Burkhart) refused to do, as he atated to this Agent, and mentioned in ©... previous report, Svidently in good faith to Covernment, f oo. Dewey Selph, Federal Penitentiary, Leavenworth, Kansas, stated he fiz date of conversation with Billi Hale at Fairfax, Okla. with reference to kil)- Henry Roan by newspaper article telling of finding Roan dead in 3ol Smith's pas near fairfax, Okla, about a month or so after Hale had talked to him and he 3 himself that Hale sure got somebody to bump Roan off, Selph further stated, with reference to Hale talkisy at Federal prison, that Hale would give him papers when there apper about his (Hale's} case and mentioned to him several times that ig fixed and if he (Selph) did not testify against him he had case wea present at time of conversations, “) him whi! Jehn Mayo, Kansas State prison, Lansing, Kansas, at was at Whis Bang, Okla. during month of “asuary, 1925, gambling at oil fielde near Phis Bang and while he ms a tin horn gambler he we and could not hate been induced under any ciroumstances to commit m party to sach a crime and while he (Mayo) could net fix exact whereabas ¥ other than above menticned he knew he did net have anything to do with said. mt could not prove it.
