The Red Command claimed responsibility for the
bombings in pursuit of liberty for Puerto Rican political
prisoners and for the island of Puerto Rico.
On March 17, 1986, an explosive device consisting of
“~ + ~batteries, wires, a clock and a flash bulb was found under the
filling pipe cap of a 5,000 gallon gasoline holding tank at a
gasoline station in Ponce, Puerto Rico. It failed to detonate
due to a malfunction of the time delay mechanism. The Red
Command claimed credit for the placement of the device in order
to further the revolution and achieve liberty.
No subsequent actions have been claimed by the Red
Command.
