Senator Jacob Javits
Senate Cffice Building
Vashington, D.C.
Sir:
I read, very happily, several weeks ago that the F.B.I.
intended to investigate the lobbying activities of the National
Rifle Association. Is the investigation continuing, or has
someone managed to turn it off? Or, hopefully, has it finally
been decided that the N.R.A. is now, and has been for more than
thirty years, a lobby?
I, as a Republican, am pleased with your basic scepticism
of the Nixon Administration. I think you reflect the thinking
of many Republicans. I admire you for being willing to stand up
and say what many seemed to be afraid to say.
