Confidential Informant T-k, of known reliability,
advised on January 10, 1951 GlRuueeennn
knew the subject to b nist & res r conversations she
had with the subject and with other individuals who knew the sub-=
ject. This informant advised that no specific instances or state-
ments could be recalled, but further advised that the subject had
also visited with Mr. and Mrs. HANS EISLER on one occasione . ;
On September 2h, 197 HANS SSLER testified before
the House Committee on Un-American Activities that he had applied
and had been accepted for membership in the Communist Party in
Germany during 1926 and that he head never been active in Communist
Party work.
Confidential Informant T-5, another government
ogonsy conducting security type investigation, advised on February
25, 1943 that the subject was known to that organization ta have
been active in Communist literary circles and as a writers This
informant further stated that the subject was listed in the
oxford Book of American Literature as a "left-wing post".
Confidential Informant T-6, of known reliability,
edvised that the subject was known to persons at the Comtmnist
Party Headquarters, formerly located at 35 East 12th Street, New
York City, during the middle part of 1950. .
COMMUNIST PARTY FRONTS
AMERICAN STUDENT UNION
The "New York World-Telegram"™ for May 7, 1943 carried
an articie which reflected that the subject had been active in
the Communist controlled "american Student Union",
It may be noted that the American Student Union
has been cited as subversive and un-American by the Special
Committee of the House Committee on Appropriations, April 21. 19113.
