BEY pointed out that she was formerly a member of the inde-
pe nden anizeation founded by Father MOHAMMED BEY in Kansas City, Kansas;
that he founded am organization of the same name in about 1935; that this
organization, under the leadership of Father MOHAMMED HEY, became very
active and very powerful and at one time possessed a membership estimated
by her to be between four hundred and five hundred members, She pointed out
that the peak of his manbership was in the year -1936 a 1937; that the member~
ship of his organization dwindled aftdr that time. She related that in the fal
of 1939 she became awarc of the fact that there wes a national organization
known by the”name of the Moorish Science Temple of America; that this organi-
zation had a Temple at Atchison, Kansas, end, seccordingly, she personally z
went to Atchison, Kansas, in an cffort to obtain additional informtion con-
cerning the activities of this organization. At this time she determined
that the national organization had its headquarters at Chitago, Illinois; ‘
that Father MOHAKMED BEY had broken with this national organization and had “.’
founded his own organization at Kansas City, Kansas. accordingly, she de-«.
cided to affiliat® herself with the national organization and founded har”
temple now known a5 Temple #46 at Kansas City, Kansas.
She advised that fourteen members were required in order for the organisation
to become chartered with the national organization; that her organ‘zation was
so chartcred on Septettber 20, 1941. She explained that the fundamental dif- |
ferences betwecn the national organization and the independent local organi-
zation founded by Father MOHAMMED BEY were as follows:
